Work by LUCA Alumna Che Go Eun Acquired for the Collection of the Flemish Community
Great news for LUCA alumna Che Go Eun: her monumental installation Belief, Love & Failure has been acquired for the Collection of the Flemish Community.
Che Go Eun studied at LUCA School of Arts, where she completed both a Master of Fine Arts and a Master in Media & Information Design. Her graduation project also received remarkable recognition, winning both the BAC ART LAB Award and the Cas-co Award.
Last year, she created Belief, Love & Failure at BAC ART LAB. For this large-scale installation, she transformed the entire Hangar with a contemporary interpretation of Dancheong, traditional Korean decorative patterns. The work emerged from an ongoing dialogue between her own watercolours and a self-developed AI tool that generated imagery based on a personal conflict with her father.
Through Belief, Love & Failure, Che Go Eun explores themes of family, identity, belief and reconciliation, bringing together traditional visual culture and contemporary technology in a powerful and thought-provoking way.
The installation was produced in collaboration with BAC ART LAB, Werktank and Cas-co. Its inclusion in the Collection of the Flemish Community is a significant recognition of the artistic research and creative practice developed by this LUCA alumna.
